Jordan E. I'm a composer/lyricist, performer, arranger, and producer who lives in Nanuet, NY, where I am a full time private piano teacher. Born in Brooklyn, NY, I started piano lessons at 5 years old after my parents Sophie and Gershon discovered I had the gift of music composition. From ages 5 to 9 I was a featured solo singer on the radio station in Parkersburg, W.Va., as a member of The Sammons Merrymakers. At 10 years old I studied piano and music theory (for three years) at Cornell University. I was a member of the rock band The Creation for 4 years in HS in Cortland, NY. After receiving a BM degree from Ithaca College, I went on to receive my MM in composition, theory and piano from Indiana U. Since then I have written many pop songs, classical, new age, electronica, and jazz tunes, 2 musicals for children, and the opera: "A Better Way", with libretto by Joseph P. Lanzone. I am also the composer/lyricist of The Red Ribbon Theme Song: “Hands Across The Universe”, which has been learned and performed by over 15,000 students K–12 in NYS in the past 14 years. My "Bellissimo" (from the CD "Think Lovely Thoughts") is track #9 on the sampler CD, "Musician's Atlas - Artist Spotlight Vol. 3". My classical solo piano composition "Toccata" was awarded SILVER in the Instrumental category of the 25th Annual Mid-Atlantic Song Contest! This is the 2nd win for "Toccata" and was my 6th win in song competitions overall in 2008. My solo piano composition "Commercial Street" (from my CD "My Provincetown") was the Winner of "Best International Instrumental Song" in The Toronto Exclusive Magazine Awards Online. My Latin instrumental "Portuguese Bakery" (also from "My Provincetown") was awarded Honorable Mention in the The Great Lakes Songwriting Contest. My jazz composition "Groove 2 U" (from my "Shimmer" CD) was a Semi-Finalist in the Instrumental category in the UK Songwriting Contest 2008. "Groove 2 U" has now been honored in songwriting competitions in 3 different countries: the U.S.A. (see Unisong below), Canada (a Top 5 nominee for Best International Jazz Song in the First Annual 2007 Toronto Exclusive Magazine Awards Online) and the U.K. In addition, I was a Finalist (for my classical solo piano composition, "Toccata") and have received an Honor Award (for my jazz instrumental "Groove 2 U") in the 100% Music Songwriting Contest. And "Echo, The Gecko" was the runner-up for Best Children's Song in the Malibu Music Awards. My instrumental pieces, "Groove 2 U" (jazz category) and "Rondo for Clarinet and Piano" (instrumental category), both received Honorable Mention in the 2007 Unisong International Songwriting Contest, "Rondo for Clarinet and Piano" was a Top 10 Finalist in the OPEN/AOG category of The 3rd Annual International Acoustic Music Awards (IAMA), my children's song, "Echo, The Gecko", was Ist Runner-Up in the Malibu Music Awards, and was recognized as a Top 10 Finalist in the 2006 USA Songwriting Competition; my New Age composition, "Romance On Moonlit Bay" (from "My Provincetown"), was a Top 5 New Age category Finalist in the 2007 Independent Music Awards; my piano composition, "Fantasie Diabolique", was a Top 20 Finalist/Instrumental in the Unisong 2005 International Songwriting Contest; and my piano piece, "Toccata", won 4th Prize/Instrumental category in the Unisong 2003 ISC.
