Influenced by Classic Rock, Modern Rock, contemporary Pop Rock, Hard Rock, Grunge, Progressive Rock and Reggae, Calisus attracts a diverse, enthusiastic audience (18-50). With live success captured in a new live DVD/CD set and a live album from their Spring, ’08 California Tour, Calisus has performed in front of festival crowds and sellouts in California, Connecticut, Ohio, Maryland, Washington, DC, North Carolina and Virginia. Calisus, its latest studio release, “…a new state of normal”, and its radio hits ‘She Said’ and ‘Never Coming Back’ are on an amazing upward trajectory.
Tireless performers, highly successful tour stops have included the barnstorming of such diverse regions as the East Coast, Midwest and the West Coast. Invited to close then top-ranked Ohio State’s football post-game concert, Calisus also played Columbus’ three top rock bars over the same three-day weekend, drawing enthusiastic crowds, and creating mass campus and underground buzz. Calisus’ Northern California tour concluded with the ’08 San Francisco North Beach Festival and Pier 23 and had previous stops at UC Merced, UC Santa Cruz, San Francisco’s Asian Heritage Street Festival, Yoshi’s, The Boom Boom Room, Horizons and venues in Sacramento and Burlingame. Calisus has also been invited to and booked for the California and New York State Fairs.
Their new album was mastered by the legendary Howie Weinberg (three decades of multi-platinum albums including Soundgarden, Oasis, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nirvana, Metallica, and recently Smashing Pumpkins, The Killers, Muse, The White Stripes). The newest Calisus CD continues Mr. Weinberg’s long history of bringing his genius to rock’s next generation of great talent. Within the first year of the release, 6,000 copies have been sold.
Executing a unique internet strategy that extends to promotion of live events, Calisus is regularly featured in a one-hour interview, including previously unreleased tracks, on the hot new music site WeAreRadio.com. The band even has the Calisus live crew, fans that organize bus trips to venues that Calisus plays. Calisus has up to three hours of original live music, plays sets tailored to the audience each venue attracts, and mixes in covers as diverse as its audience and its own original music (Rolling Stones, The Doors, CCR, The Eagles, Tom Petty, Steve Miller Band, ZZ Top, and Red Hot Chili Peppers, Smashing Pumpkins, Sublime, Bush, Oasis, Weezer).
With a non-stop front man, power drums, complex guitar work and musicianship rarely seen in Rock N’ Roll, no one leaves a Calisus show unfulfilled. Everyone leaves with a unique mix of energy and exhaustion.
